ASHVIN's research outcomes presented in Australia
On the November 23rd, 2023, the ASHVIN project was presented in a seminar at the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures & Land Administration of the University of Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia. Professor Abbas Rajabifard, Director of the Centre, introduced Associate Professor Rolando Chacon, Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), partner and Work package leader in ASHVIN, to host this session about lessons learned while digital twinning infrastructure assets. The ASHVIN project’s innovation in Digital Building Twins was particularly featured, especially related to the maintenance of infrastructure assets using digital twin technologies.
The seminar was called “Digital Twins in Practice. Lessons learned, insights and innovations from twinning 15 varied European infrastructure systems”. This seminar included a detailed presentation of four major ASHVIN democases. Lessons learned for building construction were illustrated using demo 6 (Construction of an office building in Barcelona) whereas lessons learned for asset maintenance were illustrated using demo 1 (Load Tests in Bridges), demo 7 (Maintenance of a road bridge) and demo 9 (maintenance of a cable-net roof at Olympia Stadium in Munich).
Around 30 seminar attendees ignited an interesting debate on the use of interoperable systems such as knowledge graphs to ensure data integration. The visit to the Centre included a tour around the Digital Twins lab with Professor Davood Shojaei.
